After a two-year break, Tom Jones will once again perform in the Hungarian capital. The world-famous Welsh singer will give a concert at the MVM Dome on June 28.

At 84 years old, the legendary performer will bring his Defy Explanation tour to Budapest, as announced by the event organizer Live Nation on Tuesday to MTI.

Tom Jones began his career six decades ago, founding his first band, Tommy Scott and the Senators, in 1963. His first chart-topping hit was It’s Unusual in 1965, followed by Green, Green Grass of Home in 1966 and Delilah in 1968, both of which became massive hits, along with What’s New Pussycat? He also had his own television show in the UK and the United States and appeared in several films, including Mars Attacks!.

The powerful-voiced singer made his return to the charts in the ’80s with a cover of Prince’s Kiss. This single was recorded with the experimental new wave group Art of Noise, and it sold millions of copies worldwide. Over the decades, he has collaborated with numerous global superstars, from Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin to Van Morrison, Dolly Parton, and Ed Sheeran. In the ’90s, notable Tom Jones hits included If I Only Knew (1994) and Sexbomb (1999).

Since 1965, his albums have sold over 100 million copies. His most recent, Surrounded by Time (his 42nd studio album), was released in 2021. With this album, he became the oldest male artist to top the UK charts with a new record.

Tom Jones will perform in front of Hungarian audiences for the ninth time this June at the MVM Dome, following previous performances in 2001, 2009, 2011, 2014, 2017, 2019, 2021, and 2023.
