The 67-year-old man was seriously injured in his trenched car on Rózsa Street in Újszentmargita on May 10 at around 7:20 pm, writes police.hu.
The officers immediately went to the scene where the driver of the vehicle was trapped in the car. As the 67-year-old man suffered serious injuries, he was taken to hospital by ambulance staff. However, a subsequent medical examination found that the driver had alcohol in his body at the time of the accident.
Investigators in Balmazújváros interrogated the resident of Újmentmargita as a suspect, who admitted his responsibility for causing the accident and did not deny that he had consumed alcohol before sitting behind the wheel. He said he only wanted to go home about 2.5 kilometers away by car, however, after 1 kilometer he got into a ditch.
The Balmazújváros Police Headquarters investigated him on the basis of a well-founded suspicion of driving while intoxicated. The police officers took the necessary procedural steps in the case and sent the resulting documents to the competent prosecutor’s office.
