The Debrecen District Court sentenced a man who, 12 years ago in Debrecen, pretended to be a police officer to pretend to do a house search and attributed gold jewelry from a woman’s apartment to prison. The man was arrested in France.
The Debrecen General Court informed MTI on Friday that the accused and his partner appeared in Debrecen on September 28, 2009, with an elderly, then 71-year-old woman, who was presented with an object that looked like a police badge and then entered her apartment, citing a house search.
The fake policeman claimed that according to his information, the elderly woman was selling fake jewelry and called on her to hand over all her jewelry. The victim – in the belief that the accused is conducting official proceedings as a police officer – handed over a box containing gold jewelry as a result of the threat.
In 2011, the Hajdú-Bihar County Court sentenced his male partner as the instigator of the crime to 4 years and 8 months in prison.
The accused, who was brought home from France, was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison for the crime of extortion under the guise of official quality, the statement said.
