Human traffickers were arrested by the police in Hajdú-Bihar

Proceedings are being initiated against two German and one Syrian nationals.

According to a report, the patrols of the Létavértes Border Police Office checked two vehicles on the outskirts of Létavértes on September 12, 2021 at 5:15 pm, from which several people had previously disembarked and hid in a cornfield.

The uniformed people hid in the vegetation and found 12 border violators. Ten of the migrants identified themselves as Indian and two as Pakistani citizens, but could not provide credible proof of the legality of their stay. In accordance with current Hungarian legislation, they were produced by the police and prosecuted.

The stopped cars housed two German and one Syrian national, who are being produced and detained by police. The Investigation Department of the Hajdú-Bihar County Police Headquarters is instituting proceedings against them on the basis of a well-founded suspicion of committing a crime of human trafficking. Investigators make a motion to arrest the three people.

Trafficking in human beings is punishable by a term of imprisonment of one to five years in a standard case, and up to five to fifteen years in a qualified case.
