An animal shelter notified police in March 2021 that two emaciated dogs had been found at a property in Hajdúböszörmény. In connection with the case, the staff of the local police station initiated proceedings against a 40-year-old local resident on suspicion of committing a violation of a two-tiered animal torture. According to the data of the investigation, the suspect did not take proper care of the animals’ care, feeding and keeping them, which caused the two dogs to become morbidly emaciated. Investigators questioned the owner of the dogs as a suspect, during which he testified.
During the investigation phase of the investigation, the Criminal Department of the Hajdúböszörmény Police Headquarters carried out the necessary procedural steps and handed over the documents to the prosecutor’s office with a proposal to prosecute.
