A Hungarian woman was killed in Germany, and the alleged perpetrator, a man of Nigerian nationality, was recently arrested in Budapest, the National Bureau of Investigation of the Standby Police reported on the police’s website on Friday.
The woman’s body was found during a dog walk in a wooded area on the outskirts of Berg am Starnberger See, Germany. Bavarian police have determined that the woman died in November or December 2021, the death was caused by alienation – read on police.hu.
Based on the DNA tests performed during the investigation, the victim was identified as a 26-year-old woman of Hungarian citizenship. According to the German investigating authority, the alleged perpetrator is a Nigerian man living in Hungary who is presumably in closer contact with the victim.
In February 2022, the Department of Life Protection of the Bavarian Fürstenfeldbruck Police contacted the Department of Life Protection and Targeting of the National Investigation Bureau of the Standby Police to arrest the man.
The Hungarian police quickly identified the whereabouts of the alleged perpetrator in Budapest. Given the seriousness of the case, German police and specialists traveled to Hungary to continue the investigation with Hungarian investigators.
The alleged perpetrator was arrested on Tuesday in the Budapest IX. district. He was then interrogated as a suspect and then taken into extradition custody.
The court ruled on Thursday the extradition of the suspect. The man consented to his transfer to Germany during the extradition proceedings, which will take place by mid-April, according to police.hu.
