A report of a traffic accident was received by the police on November 28, 2021, at about 9:30 p.m. Two cars collided in Debrecen’s Segner Square.
No one was injured in the accident, but police noticed that the driver of one of the cars, a 24-year-old man, was speaking remarkably slowly, and in a weird way. Because the breathalyzer showed a negative value for both drivers, the young man was taken to the police station to be tested for drugs. As it turned out, the man was driving in a state of intoxication.
During the investigation into the circumstances of the accident, the police found that the man was also responsible for its occurrence. He drove into the intersection despite a forbidden signal, where he collided with a black Audi.
Employees of the Debrecen Police Headquarters questioned the local resident as a suspect due to a well-founded suspicion of committing an intoxicated driving offense, he admitted his responsibility for causing the accident. The police took the necessary procedural steps and sent the resulting documents to the competent prosecutor’s office.
