Two of their relatives from Debrecen also died: their car drifted off the road and crashed into a tree.
Yesterday, four people died in a traffic accident near Gyomaendrőd. The driver and all three passengers of the car, which drifted off the road and crashed into a tree between Gyomaendrőd and Dévaványa, died. The car – for an hitherto unclear reason – moved to the left in the direction of travel, drifted off the road and crashed into a tree. The roof of the car was torn off during the accident.
The Gyomaendrőd municipal firefighters started the technical rescue work with tension cutters. The emergency management in Békéscsaba immediately called two ambulance cars and an ambulance helicopter to the scene, but unfortunately they were unable to help. According to kekvillogo.hu, a young man from Létavértes and his father, as well as two of their relatives from Debrecen, died in the accident. The father and son worked as firefighters.
According to the article, “64-year-old Gábor M. previously worked as a volunteer firefighter, and recently worked as a driver for the municipality. His son also chose lifesaving as his profession.” The commander of the deceased, István Sütő, said that both father and son were true heroes. They will be remembered for a long time, and also for how exemplary they were in their duties.
“They saved many lives, helped in numerous fire incidents and, of course, participated in the rescue of countless accidents,” the commander praised his deceased comrades. According to the residents of Gyomaendrőd, many people drive at a higher speed than permitted on the affected road section, which has already led to tragedies several times before.
