Four-weekend houses in the vicinity of Debrecen were broken into by unknown persons in April 2022. Mainly technical devices and tools were stolen, but various metal scraps were also stolen. In two cases, after looting the properties, the perpetrators also set them on fire.
The investigators immediately began investigating the cases. It soon became apparent that the same people could most likely have entered all four houses. The thorough work of the police brought a breakthrough at the end of October, three men came into their sights. They organized a dawn operation on October 24 and arrested a 45-year-old man, his 19-year-old son, and a 24-year-old acquaintance.
According to the investigation, the mastermind behind the break-ins was a 24-year-old young man. He also thought it was a good idea to set fire to the properties in order to erase the traces.
All three confessed during their questioning as suspects. The police took them into criminal custody and then submitted a motion for their arrest.
The Criminal Division of the Debrecen Police Department launched an investigation against the three local residents due to well-founded suspicions of theft and vandalism.
