Her plane landed in Ferihegy on Friday afternoon. Since then, she has already started serving her prison sentence.
On March 26, 2023, the 43-year-old Hungarian woman who was sentenced to more than 15 years in prison for money laundering, fraud and budget fraud in our country was arrested in the Dominican Republic.
D. Andrea, who earned hundreds of millions of forints through various frauds in the 2000s, became one of the most wanted criminals in Europe after she disappeared without a trace in the spring of 2012. In her various cases, judgments were also passed against her in absentia. She was not only on the top domestic wanted list but also took a prominent place on the EU Most Wanted page.
It has now been revealed that after leaving Hungary, she started a new life in Dominica, where she found a partner and gave birth to a child. She didn’t expect at all that more than ten years later, the police were still looking for her and they would find her. So it hit her like a bolt of lightning when she was caught by uniformed officers three weeks ago on the beach in the city of Punta Cana.
The operation was launched by the Targeting Department of the National Investigation Bureau of the Emergency Police after the International Criminal Cooperation Center (NEBEK) contacted the German Federal Criminal Bureau and the United States Marshals Service with the help of the Interpol Office, who played a mediating role between the Hungarian and the between Dominican authorities.
Thanks to international cooperation, the woman was arrested and then transported to Spain, where she stayed until Friday last week. She was brought home on the afternoon plane on April 14, 2023. In Madrid, a NEBEK administrator and two employees of the Emergency Police took her from the Spanish police, and upon landing at Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport, she was immediately transported to the Capital Correctional Institution, where she began serving her legally binding prison sentence.
