A passenger was injured in Debrecen due to the drunkenness of the bus driver

The Debrecen Traffic Prosecutor’s Office brought charges against a bus driver who drove into a car in front of him for the more serious offense of drunken driving.

According to the indictment, on December 5, 2022, in the afternoon, the man drove a long-distance bus in Debrecen, carrying four passengers. However, the man consumed alcohol before driving. When he reached an intersection, he did not keep enough following distance from the car in front of him, and due to his inattention due to his drunkenness, he collided with the rear of a passenger car that was slowing down for traffic reasons, which hit the back of the minibus that was also slowing down in front of him due to the impact.

As a result of the accident, the elderly woman who was holding on to the bus and was about to get off fell and suffered injuries that took eight days to heal.

During the investigation of the Debrecen Police Department, it was established that the driver of the bus was drunk behind the wheel and also broke several traffic rules.

The Debrecen District Prosecutor’s Office accuses the perpetrator who confessed to the crime of driving while intoxicated causing serious bodily harm. In his indictment, he proposed that the Debrecen District Court issue a criminal order based on the case files, imposing a suspended prison sentence on the man and prohibiting him from driving road vehicles for a fixed period of time.
