The Debrecen District Prosecutor’s Office brought charges of vandalism and other crimes against a man who, in revenge, scratched the victim’s vehicle and threatened him several times.
According to the indictment, the victim works as an instructor at a driving school in Debrecen, and is in a lawsuit with the head of the driving school. In connection with this case, the competent authority questioned the victim as a witness. The accused was extremely angry because of the witness’s statement.
In April 2023, both were driving in downtown Debrecen, when the man noticed the victim at a red light, shouted at him, threatened to kill him and used obscenities.
On May 22, 2023, at 7 p.m., the victim’s car was parked in the parking lot of a shopping center in Debrecen, which the defendant recognized. The man scratched the vehicle in several places with a pointed, hard-surfaced object and damaged the cover of the left front fog lamp. and thereby caused more than HUF 600,000 in damage, which was not recovered. On this occasion, and then on May 24, 2023, while waiting in front of the Debrecen Police Department building, the accused insulted the victim again and threatened to kill him, which caused serious fear in the victim.

The District Prosecutor’s Office in Debrecen brought charges against the defendant, who admitted to committing the crime, for vandalism causing greater damage and the misdemeanor of continuous harassment by threat of violence against a person at the District Court in Debrecen. The district prosecutor’s office proposed in the indictment for issuing a criminal sentence that the district court, based on the content of the documents, impose a suspended prison sentence on the defendant without conducting a trial.
