The Hajdúszoboszló District Prosecutor’s Office has filed charges of attempted aggravated assault against a man who was intoxicated and repeatedly kicked and punched his partner.
According to the indictment, the defendant and the victim are a couple living in Debrecen. On November 10, 2023, the couple attended a company event in Földes, where the man became intoxicated. In the evening, they started driving home, with the woman at the wheel. They argued on the way, so the victim stopped in Nádudvar and decided to take the bus home. She started walking to the nearby bus stop, but the defendant followed her and, in a highly agitated state, kicked his partner in the thigh from behind and grabbed her hair, trying to hold her back.
At the bus stop, a local bus had already arrived, and the victim wanted to board it, but the defendant did not allow her to. He slapped the woman on the back of her head and then kicked her twice in the stomach and thigh with great force. The bus driver noticed the incident and opened the bus door, but the defendant prevented the woman from getting on, pulling her back with great force, causing her to fall to the ground. The man then repeatedly kicked the woman on the back of her head while she was on the ground.
The bus driver asked the defendant to stop assaulting the woman, but the enraged man reacted angrily, so he closed the bus door and drove away. The bus driver immediately called the police.
As a result of her partner’s assault, the victim suffered multiple abrasions and bruises on her head and upper body. However, given the defendant’s persistent and forceful assault and the areas of the body that were injured, there was a real possibility of the victim sustaining injuries that would take more than eight days to heal.
The investigation into the case was conducted by the Hajdúszoboszlói Police Station. The Hajdúszoboszlói District Prosecutor’s Office has filed charges against the defendant for attempted aggravated assault with the Hajdúszoboszló District Court. In the indictment requesting a summary judgment, the prosecutor’s office proposed that the district court impose a fine on the defendant without a trial, based on the contents of the file.
