Pole-vaulter Ernő Makó dies at 61

Ernő Makó, veteran athlete from Debrecen died at the age of 61.

Ernő Makó, emblematic pole-vaulter of Debrecen, was very active: he was training and competing in his whole life, also in his last years. Six years ago, Makó took part in the Continental Championships as a senior and won a silver medal. In 2008 he won a gold medal in pole vaulting and he also won one in hurdling.

He was a recorder in pole-vaulting during 1980 and 1982. Altogether, he won fifteen medals in world championships.
