The U23 European Athletics Championships have started in Tallinn. In the continental contest until Sunday, 29 athletes will represent the Hungarian colors, including the pole vault of the Hungarian champion of the Debrecen Sportcentrum-Sportiskola, Klekner Hanga Csenge – the Debrecen Sportcentrum writes in its statement.
In the qualifiers starting on Friday at 9.35 am Hungarian time, a total of 24 athletes will compete in two groups, twelve of whom will advance to the Sunday afternoon final. Hanga was classified in group “B” in the company of two Italian and German, as well as one Finnish, Swiss, Turkish, French, Czech, Irish and Swedish pole vaulter.
To reach the finals, 440 cm is the level or the 12 best results – which would mean the individual peak for more athletes. DSC-SI’s talent at last year’s indoor OB completed the best of his life (430 cm).
Before the competition, Hanga’s coach, Gergő Géczi, said: “Hanga came to the competition as a National Champion, he is in very good shape. Unfortunately, his tonsils ignited on Monday, but he was fine on Tuesday afternoon and he was able to train on Wednesday. He is very hungry for racing and confident of a good result (finals). ”
