András Herczeg was chosen as the best coach in the history of the football club in a fan vote held on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the Debrecen VSC.

According to a report by the Hajdúság association’s website on Thursday, the 65-year-old graduated in the lead by collecting 57 percent of the vote.

András Herczeg was a player at the DVSC between 1974 and 1979, then as a youth coach and later as a career coach and club manager for the association. He achieved his greatest success between 2007 and 2010 as a head coach – officially as a club manager – with Debrecen: he won the championship twice (2009, 2010), the Hungarian Cup twice (2008, 2010), the Super Cup twice (2009, 2010) and the League Cup (2010) once. , which was also featured in the Champions League as well as in the Europa League.
Herczeg received the Zilahi Award in 2013 and was named Coach of the Year in 2019. He also holds the Hungarian Golden Cross of Merit and the Master Coach Award and is currently the President of the DVSC Football Academy.

DVSC announced on Wednesday that based on the votes of the fans, the best player in the history of the club was the 11-time national team, four-time Hungarian champion Tamás Sándor.

The legends of the club can be greeted by the Drukkers at the opening kick of the DVSC-Újpest match, which starts at 2.30 pm on Saturday.
