Pelé Dies at 82

Pelé (Edson Arantes do Nascimento), Brazil’s and one of the world’s greatest footballers, has died at the age of 82.

During his 21-year career, Pelé scored 1,281 goals in 1,363 matches. He played in 92 matches for his country’s national team and scored 77 goals. Until now, Pelé is the only player to win the World Cup three times, lifting the trophy in 1958, 1962 and 1970. In 2000, FIFA chose him as the player of the century.

The legendary player died on December 29th, 2022 at the age of 82 at the Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo, Brazil. His agent Joe Fraga confirmed the news of his death. Pelé has been treated for colon cancer since 2021, and has been hospitalized with several illnesses in recent months.
