Dr. István Gaál was elected as president for the Science Faculties (tudományegyetem,TEK) of the University of Debrecen. The administrative unit includes the faculty of law, humanities, social and information sciences, economics and natural sciences.
Both Dr. István Fábián and Dr. Gaál István submitted their application to the presidential position, both of which were in compliance with the specified requirements. On 10th April, the Council of the eight faculties voted and decided that Dr. István Gaál would start his four year long operation as president at the 1st July.
Dr. István Gaál said that Science Faculty (TEK) was founded in 2004 to strengthen the alliance and cooperation between the eight faculties, which is to be further developed in the next couple of years. It is also important to facilitate the collaboration between the city, the university and the ministry. He added that theoretical researches, as well as revenue creating initiations would be supported and that the values developed over the decades are need to be – and would be preserved.
