Almost 1000 new foreign students will start their first year at the university in September. The majority of them will be students at the Faculty of Medical Sciences (321). A hundred new foreign students will study at the Faculty of Dental Sciences and 65 at the Faculty of Social Health Care Sciences.
44 of the foreign students chose the Faculty of Economic Sciences, 31 will attend the Faculty of Engineering, while 30 of them chose the Faculty of Informatics. 26 students will attend the Faculty of Pharmacy, 20 chose the Faculty of Agriculture, Food Technology or Environmental Economy, whereas 17 students will start their first year at the Faculty of Natural Science and Technology. 5 will study at the Faculty of English and American Studies, 4 of them chose the Faculty of Music and one student will study business law at the University of Debrecen.
600 of the new foreign students are coming from Nigeria, 200 from Iran, 200 from Israel and 100 from the United Kingdom . However, there are others from such distant places as Mauritius, the Fiji Islands or New Zealand.
Many of the new students – who are mainly between the age of 18 and 25 – arrived to Debrecen after the 20th of August and they attend basic Hungarian language courses before starting their studies at the university.
