Topical legal issues were discussed at the international conference held jointly for the eighth time by Debreceni Egyetem Állam- és Jogtudományi Kar [Faculty of Law of the University of Debrecen] (DE ÁJK) and Kiev University of Law.
The cooperation between the two institutions covers slightly more than the past ten years altogether, and it started out originally as a joint action between two individual departments.
Related to a joint research project, Professor György Csécsy gave a lecture at our university, when the idea was raised about an annual joint symposium on the current legal issues. This is indeed an excellent opportunity for a regular exchange of opinions and experience between students and faculty,” said Jurij Boshickij, Rector of Kiev University at the opening ceremony of the conference on April 28.
At the conference, Dean Veronika Szikora presented an award on behalf of DE ÁJK to the head of the Ukrainian institution.
Jurij Boshickij has played an important part in the establishment of a fruitful cooperation between the two universities. It is our intention to acknowledge our appreciation of his efforts by granting him the highest award from Állam és Jogtudományi Kar,” said Veronika Szikora.
As a counterpart of this gesture from the Ukrainian side, the Rector gave a certificate of acknowledgment and a medal to Professor Csécsy and the Dean.
At the session following the opening ceremony on Kassai úti campus, the participants discussed the changes taking place in Ukrainian and Hungarian civil law in detail. Almost 20 presentations were delivered on this topic, and the transcripts of these are to be published as a separate volume of the proceedings of the conference, just like on previous occasions.
