According to Ministry of Human Resourses announcement, Eurostat data show that in 2018, the Hungarian infant mortality rate is lower than the average of the 28 member states of the European Union. In Hungary, even a few years ago, every tenth newborn was born prematurely. Nowdays every 8-9 children are born earlier than 37 weeks of gestation or weigh less than 2,500 grams at the time of birth.
