The Senate of the University of Debrecen voted at the meeting on the application for the position of Deputy Rector of Education and senior management of several public education institutions of the University.
A one-minute silent line-up commemorated the lecturers, researchers, staff and students of the University of Debrecen who died of a coronavirus at an extraordinary meeting of the Senate. In connection with the epidemic, Rector Zoltán Szilvássy emphasized in his report that the preparation of the University’s National Vaccine Factory Program, supported by the government, is progressing well.
– In addition to all mandatory and recommended vaccination facilities, a plant specifically for the production of coronavirus vaccines will be built, where it will be possible to produce vaccines with several technologies – vector vaccines, subunit vaccines, complete killed virus technologies – listed Zoltán Szilvássy. The rector added: the experiments are going well, there are already more than twenty liters of the Hungarian-developed vaccine containing the killed virus.
In his report, Chancellor Zoltán Bács spoke about the fact that the institution is going through an extremely eventful period from a financial point of view, the introduction of the health service legal relationship has started, the preparations for the model change and the planning of the new budget are underway.
– In connection with the change of model, we are waiting for the parliamentary vote on the law on public interest maintenance foundations, the law on universities and the amendment of the national higher education law. We are confident that in the case of the University of Debrecen, the structure, organization, activities and tasks of the university will not change. The assumptions about the name change of the institution are not real, the name of the Count István Tisza Foundation for the University of Debrecen belongs to the foundation itself, there is no intention to change the name of the university – stated Zoltán Bács.
At Thursday’s meeting of the board, Professor László Mátyus took over as dean, who can lead the Faculty of General Medicine of the university until June 30, 2026.
The Senate has supported Elek Bartha’s candidacy for the position of Vice-Chancellor of Education, so the professor can continue his work until December 31, 2025.
New leaders were also decided at the public education institutions of the university: the Senate supported the application of Tímea Denichné Hajdu to fill the position of head of the Beáta Anikó Balogh, Deputy Head of Institution, to apply for Mónika Kovácsné Fazekas.
