New laboratory at the Faculty of Engineering

The Faculty of Engineering of the University of Debrecen has grown with the Plastic-Form & AD Plastic Injection Molding Tool Design Laboratory, which helps students practice-oriented training. The new unit was inaugurated on August 25 on the faculty’s Ótemető Street campus.

In the laboratory, students in the polymer technology engineering training and in the materials technology specialization in basic mechanical engineering can learn about the tools used in the production of plastic parts for the automotive industry, their components, and the injection molding process.

In 2019, the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering (MK) of the University of Debrecen (DE) launched a specialized training of polymer technology engineers with the participation of the plastic and rubber industry players of the region.

A key task for the faculty is that the students studying here acquire practical knowledge during the training, which can help them to work later in the industrial companies after graduation. The now handed over laboratory fills a gap, so from the school year starting in September, engineering students can expand their knowledge with the knowledge of the plastics industry.

– emphasized Géza Husi, Dean of the Faculty of Technology at the inauguration ceremony.

The design of the laboratory was supported by two plastics companies.

The relationship between our company and the university dates back decades, and we hope that both parties will benefit from the current cooperation, as we can support the professional internship of future engineers by expanding the training offer.

– said Zsolt Burai. The managing director of Plastic-Form Kft. Added: as a former student of the faculty, it is a special pleasure to be able to help former alma mater as a company manager.

AD Plastik Tisza Kft. is a member of a Croatian group of companies, which operates production sites in several countries, including Hungary.

We have already managed to establish cooperation with Croatian universities to support the practice-oriented training of students studying there, but this is the first time in Hungary. We hope that the relationship we have established will last for a long time and that we can cooperate with the University of Debrecen in more and more areas.

– said Tomislav Posezi, the managing director of AD Plastik Tisza Kft.

The specialized training of the polymer technology engineer of the Faculty of Engineering has been popular among engineers and companies since its inception.

The start of the course was justified by the growing number of plastic companies in the region, so in 2019 we compiled the curriculum based on the needs of more than 10 companies. There is a constant interest in specialized in-service training, the number of students allows to start the course in each academic year, and the quality of the training is also raised by the fact that the education takes place with the participation of industry professionals.

– informed Tamás Mankovits, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at DE MK.

The inauguration ceremony ended with the presentation of the Plastic-Form & AD Plastik Injection Molding Tool Design Laboratory at the Faculty of Engineering after the ribbon cutting.
