The genetics of diverse pheasants are studied at the University of Debrecen

Researchers at the Centre for Agricultural Genomics and Biotechnology pheasant populations in Hungary and Serbia. The study of their results was published in the Scientific Reports of the renowned publisher Nature.
The common or otherwise known as the hunting pheasant (Phasianus colchicus) is a widespread wild species in the world, which is an ideal model for monitoring the results and effects of introductions and for studying the development of genetic differences. It is also one of the most important small games in Hungary, of national economic and ecological significance.

The results of the research were published in the prestigious Nature Reports, an international, open-access, multidisciplinary journal.
