The University of Debrecen is further strengthening cooperation with Uzbekistan based on knowledge transfer. Rector Zoltán Szilvássy agreed with Ambassador Abat Fayzullaev on training and research and development cooperation in the fields of pharmacy and pharmaceutical industry, as well as agricultural science.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Abat Fayzullaev, and his delegation were received at the University of Debrecen by Rector Zoltán Szilvássy on Tuesday afternoon. The focus of the relationship between the institution and Uzbekistan, as well as Uzbek higher education institutions, is primarily agriculture and water management, pharmacy, and engineering.
Abat Fayzullaev, Rector of the University of Debrecen, discussed with the Uzbek Ambassador the joint research and development opportunities in the pharmaceutical industry and the implementation tasks related to pharmaceutical production. They also talked about the implementation of cooperation between DE and Uzbek higher education institutions and the experience of the joint educational program. As stated, 22 Uzbek students are currently studying at the University of Debrecen.
– We have been waiting for a long time to visit the University of Debrecen. The activities of DE are well known for higher education in Uzbekistan, as we have previously held several professional consultations with the institution in Debrecen, as well as in the Hungarian capital, but today is the first time we are in the city. During the meeting, we discussed the various research and development opportunities related to the health and food industry, the areas of cooperation between higher education institutions in Debrecen and Uzbekistan, and we are continuing preparations to make the University of Debrecen’s courses available in Uzbekistan in the future, Abat said after the meeting. Rector Zoltán Szilvássy said that Uzbekistan had found a key strategic partner at the University of Debrecen and that it was important for the institution to strengthen its position in the international higher education market.
– Our goal is to intensify our relations with Uzbekistan, it is not just a university partnership, but I would like to have close and fruitful cooperation in the pharmaceutical and food industries with the participation of industry clusters related to the institution. We want to export innovative agricultural developments that can contribute to the development of Uzbek winemaking, such as the use of so-called smart wine barrels to support fermentation. In the field of pharmaceuticals, the university will start generative pharmaceuticals and herbal-based drug development in Uzbekistan together with Meditop Pharmaceuticals, one of the member companies of the Pharmapolis Innovative Pharmaceuticals Cluster. This could significantly strengthen the Hungarian pharmaceutical industry, said the rector of the University of Debrecen.
The University of Debrecen is also in contact with several Uzbek higher education institutions, and these collaborations offer further educational, research, and development opportunities in the future.
