The training started at the Institute of Surgery of the University of Debrecen and has now become a national program to support the preparation of medical candidates for professional examinations. At the seminars, residents will be assisted by faculty members from four Hungarian medical schools to improve their knowledge. The next preparer will be held on May 6th.
The last and most important stage of specialist medical training is the professional exam. At the Institute of Surgery of the University of Debrecen, seminars have been held for years to discuss the series of exam items. The program has long been an important part of training residents of the institution.
– From the beginning, the concept was that for each occasion, one of the residents would prepare from a given group of items, which would be presented in a similar way to the examination to his or her resident colleagues and one or more moderators with great expertise in the subject. In many cases, the moderators were instructors who also take regular professional exams. At first, the seminars were organized only for the residents of the Institute of Surgery, but due to the usefulness and interest of the professional program, young candidates from the General Surgery Department of the Gyula Kenézy Campus of the Clinical Center soon joined. Recently, due to the epidemic situation, seminars have been held online, so those who work in other counties, were on secondment, or spent their internships, for example, could also attend.
The local initiative has now become a national program. The presidents of the surgical panel of the Hungarian medical training universities have agreed to appoint preparatory residents from each institution and highly experienced specialists as moderators.
