Jubilee certificates were handed over on June 3 at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Debrecen. The event was attended by 48 former students who graduated in civil engineering and construction for half a century.
The jubilees graduated in 1972 from the predecessor institutions of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Debrecen.
“The development of technical training has been unbroken over the past 50 years and this process is still ongoing, as the number of students at the time, just over 400, has risen to 3,400, of whom 1,100 are English-speaking students from abroad,”
– Géza Husi said in a speech.
The dean of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Debrecen emphasized that today the Faculty of Engineering trains specialists in both basic and master’s degrees in architecture, construction, mechanical engineering, environmental, mechatronics, vehicle, and aeronautical engineering. The Ótemető Street campus will be expanded with a new wing, a research center for the automotive industry will be established in the city and the faculty will establish a doctoral school to further expand the training offer, the start of which is awaiting a decision by the Hungarian Accreditation Committee.
“They can be proud of the institution where they graduated, just as we are proud of our former students,”
– Géza Husi concluded.
After the greeting, Imre Kocsis, Deputy Dean of Science, presented the scientific development and achievements of the past decades, and the former graduates were able to receive their jubilee diplomas from Piros Ailer, Deputy Rector of the University of Debrecen, and Dean Géza Husi.
On behalf of the gold graduates, Éva Makkainé Hoksza, the Ignác Alpár Prize-winning architect, greeted.
We are touched here in the Alma mater, thanking the management of the university and the faculty for not forgetting about us, the alumni who – as they are today – obtained their first degree at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Debrecen. We would like to thank our teachers for the knowledge they have received here, for the excellent journey, for the human support that helped us to stand up to our work with honor,
– even said Éva Makkainé Hoksza.
Participants in the jubilee graduation ceremony commemorated their deceased teachers and fellow students with a minute’s silence.
The ceremony ended with a meeting of friends at the Faculty of Engineering.
