Faculty of Science and Technology Summer Camp for future researchers and engineers

During the one-week summer camp, high school students interested in science get to know the research activities of the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Debrecen and the faculty’s training offer. On the first day of the camp, the Institute of Earth Sciences introduced itself to the students, who were able to get to know the geographical landmarks of the area and the airport.

The dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology said that the camp was extremely popular this year as well, there was a one-and-a-half time over-subscription, and after the evaluation of the submitted applications, 98 students will participate in this year’s one-week program. The young people came from 38 secondary schools in the country, many from Transdanubia and a third of the participants had already been to the camp before.

During the camp, which runs from August 22 to 27, the high school students conduct their own research in the morning, and in the afternoon the six institutes of the faculty (Institute of Biology and Ecology, Institute of Biotechnology, Institute of Physics, Institute of Earth Sciences, Institute of Chemistry, Institute of Mathematics) present training and research offers, as well as thematic presentations, experiments, competitions, and other colorful programs await high school students. On Monday, the young people hiked in the Erdőspuszták near Debrecen and visited the Debrecen International Airport organized by the Institute of Earth Sciences. The one-week Faculty of Science and Technology Summer Camp ends on Saturday with a conference organized to present the research tasks.
