In addition to the presentation of faculty awards, professional awards, and scientific recognition, the new associate professors and assistant professors were able to receive their assignments at the Tuesday event organized on the occasion of the Science Festival of the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Debrecen.
In memory of János S. Petőfi – a former student of the University of Debrecen, later honorary doctorate, and an external member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences – his widow has created a publication award, which can be awarded to a university lecturer, researcher, doctoral candidate or doctoral student under the age of 40 who is outstanding in the field of humanities provided a publication performance – academic András Kertész, a founding member of the award’s board of trustees, explained the history of the award’s establishment and the conditions of the award.
This year’s and last year’s winners were praised by István Hoffmann, university teacher, academician, professor of the Institute of Hungarian Linguistics, and chairman of the board of trustees.
The awardees presented the results of their research so far in a professional presentation. The 2020 winner of the Petőfi S. János Prize, Norbert Béres, a teaching assistant at the Institute of Hungarian Literature and Cultural Studies with the title “Fine prose works of Ferenc Verseghy”, and the 2021 winner of the competition, Csilla Katona, a teaching assistant at the Institute of Hungarian Linguistics, ” He gave a presentation entitled “Sound Changes Modifying Phonotactic Structure in the Old Hungarian Period”.
At the event, faculty members received their associate professor and assistant professor appointments.
