Mariann Harangi, internist, university professor, and doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, will lead the Hungarian Diabetes Association’s Certified Diabetes Care Center at the Clinical Center of the University of Debrecen from October. The new manager coordinates the diabetes care at Nagyerdei and Kenézy Gyula Campus according to uniform professional principles. Its main goal is the further development of the care and treatment of diabetics.
Today, diabetes affects more than 1 million adults and 5,000 children in Hungary, and the number of patients is constantly increasing. At the Internal Medicine Clinic of the University of Debrecen Clinical Center, more than 10,000 diabetes patients are cared for annually as part of outpatient specialist care. The institution is a Certified Diabetes Care Center of the Hungarian Diabetes Association, which will be led by university professor Mariann Harangi at the request of the president of the Clinical Center from October 10. Among other things, his task is to coordinate diabetes care at the Nagyerdei and Kenézy Gyula Campuses and to organize specialist appointments as optimally as possible. His work is assisted by associate professor Éva Katona and chief physician Petró Gizella as specialist coordinators.
Mariann Harangi took over the management of the Cukorbeteg Szakellátóhely from Zoltán Szabó, the president of the Clinical Center in the Presidential Office.
