The girl group of the Hortobágy Folk Dance Ensemble of the University of Debrecen achieved a podium place with their Szilágyság dance at the National Hoop Festival.
Come to the hoop girls! with this name, the ‘Karikazó’ Festival featuring women’s dances from the Carpathian Basin was organized for the fifth time at the Vasutas Egyetérts Cultural Center in Debrecen on April 1, at which the Hortobágy Folk Dance Ensemble of the University of Debrecen was also represented.
The women’s faculty of the art group, consisting mainly of university students and graduates, presented itself with 17 members at the ‘Karikazó’ Festival, where they achieved 3rd place.
The musical material of the show was edited by Lilla Lenke Tóth, the choreography was put together by Fanni Anikó Lakatos. The competition ‘Járyátok csak leányok’ dances from Szilágyság.
The Hortobágy Néptáncegyüttes, which has been growing in numbers in recent years and has successfully performed on tour in Italy, is celebrating its 70th anniversary this fall. The official art group of the University of Debrecen is one of the oldest folk dance groups not only at the city level but also at the national level.
In the large-scale anniversary program in November, the audience will also be able to see award-winning choreography at the ‘Karikazó’ Festival.
