The Faculty of Science and Technology (TTK) of the University of Debrecen is organizing its summer camp again this year. High school students who are interested in natural sciences and are about to continue their studies can apply for the event at the end of August until May 31.
How far a jump fork jumps; Ant wars under our feet; Identification of unknown yeast; Radioactivity in everyday life; 3D mapping and modeling using drones; What does liquid gold tell you? – elemental analysis of honey samples; The geometry of scissors – students can research a variety of topics at this year’s summer camp of the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Debrecen. The faculty’s institutes (Biology and Ecology, Biotechnology, Physics, Earth Sciences, Chemistry, and Mathematics) open their laboratories, where the residents of the camp develop a research project with the most modern tools, under the guidance of faculty staff. Their results will be presented in a short presentation at a conference on the last day of the camp.
The purpose of the event is for high school students to gain first-hand experience of scientific work and to learn about the faculty’s research and teaching activities.
The TTK Summer Camp is approaching its jubilee, as this is the 10th time that we have invited high school students interested in natural and technical sciences, who want to do research, to our faculty. The camp is an entry into the world of research and development and can also be a significant step towards university admission, as starting in 2024, the research work carried out at us will be recognized with extra points in the admissions process
– emphasized Ferenc Kun, dean of TTK.
The faculty offers the opportunity for students, upon returning to school, to continue the research work they started at the camp, to keep in touch with TTK institutes and to get involved in talent development programs. In the camp, the research work is supplemented with colorful programs, in addition to informative lectures and laboratory visits, the organizers also try to present the beauties of university student life.
