The graduation ceremony of the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Science and Environmental Management

Graduates of the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Science and Environmental Management of the University of Debrecen took the engineering oath and received their diplomas in the Main Building’s Ceremony Hall on Friday. In the spring semester of the 2022/2023 academic year, 202 students met the requirements for obtaining a diploma.

The agricultural higher education in Debrecen celebrates its 155th anniversary this year. Generations of excellent economic and agricultural professionals have been brought up within the walls of our institution. The goal of our faculty is to become a multifaceted, outstanding scientific and educational center with its specific, diverse image and traditions, which will gain recognition not only in our country but also internationally

– said the dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Science and Environmental Management in his celebratory speech.

László Stündl added: the high-quality work of the lecturers, researchers and workers is well exemplified by the fact that the Debrecen Faculty of Agriculture is among the TOP 200-250 for the fifth year in the field of agricultural sciences, which compares the world’s higher education institutions by field of science.

Be proud of the fact that they earned their degree at one of the country’s most prestigious universities. Alma Mater lets you go on your professional career with a calm heart. They set out with foundations on which they can build, which can be put to good use in agriculture, the economy and other areas. I hope that in their successful careers, they will not forget that our institution provided you with these funds

At the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Science and Environmental Management, 21 people received honors, 32 excellent, and 42 distinguished diplomas in the bachelor’s and master’s programs, higher education vocational programs and specialized continuing education programs.

The faculty’s awards and recognitions were also presented during the ceremony.

Éva Vincze, vice president of the UD Student Government, Vilmos Tibor Hegedüs, former president of the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Science and Environmental Management Student Government, chief of staff of the UD Student Government, Bence Gábor Győri, general vice president of the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Science and Environmental Management Student Government and Attila Laskai, the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Science and Environmental Management received the Certificate of Appreciation from the Rector of the University of Debrecen. Academic and social vice-president of Student Government.

The Council of the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Science and Environmental Management awarded the title of honorary associate professor to Ákos Torbik, head of the project and marketing department of the Hortobágy Nature Conservation and Gene Protection Nonprofit Kft., and to Gábor Várszegi, director of the Directorate of Agricultural Genetic Resources of the National Food Chain Safety Office.

The faculty’s Pro Facultate Juventutis Award was received by Tibor Vilmos Hegedüs, former president of the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Science and Environmental Management Student Government and chief of staff of the DE Student Government.

Ph.D. student Vámosiné Pacza Tünde received the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Science and Environmental Management Publication Award for the full-length scientific publication with the greatest impact factor of the academic year and the most significant international professional recognition, while the faculty’s Author of the Year Award went to Ph.D. student Ayaz Mukarram Shaikh.
