More than one hundred and eighty students have now graduated from the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Debrecen. Chemical, electrical and bioengineers, biologists and mathematicians, among others, received their diplomas at the ceremony held at the institution on Thursday.
Our faculty is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. Today, the Faculty of Science and Technology has developed into a regional center for research, development and innovation, which is committed to quality professional training. In our science and engineering courses, quality knowledge is guaranteed by our internationally renowned research groups, where, under the guidance of recognized professors, our students are also involved in research and development work
– stressed Ferenc Kun, dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Debrecen, in his celebratory speech.
The professor added that the high-quality work is indicated by the fact that five organizational units of the faculty received the title of Outstanding Research Site of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and currently nine research groups of the Hungarian Research Network, as well as five Lendület and two Cutting Edge research groups operate at the faculty. Ferenc Kun also highlighted that we don’t just want to impart theoretical knowledge, practice-oriented trainings provide the opportunity for students to develop skills and competencies that employers need most. For this, the faculty has established an extensive network of relationships with important companies in the region. In September 2016, dual training started in the engineering courses, and from 2018, in several natural sciences master’s courses.
Our faculty continuously expands its training offerings following the development of industry and science. As an important success of recent years, we launched the basic biotechnology and geoinformatics master’s courses, together with the Faculty of Engineering we launched the electrical engineering master’s course last year, and from September this year you can also study our new material engineering basic course
– said the dean.
One hundred and seventy-one students in the full-time, BSc program in Hungarian and English, and fourteen in the correspondence department, passed the final exam. The recently graduated chemical, electrical and bioengineers, biologists, mathematicians, physicists, and geographers took an oath and then received their diplomas.
Awards were also presented at Thursday’s ceremony. Dóra Viktória Galambos received the Certificate of Recognition for the President and Vice-President of the Student Government. Marcell Zámbori, Chhay Sotheara, Bosquit Glyssa May and Silavinia Esraa received the Dean’s Commendation and reward for their exemplary academic and public work.
