The former students of the institution described the labor market opportunities by presenting their careers on Wednesday at the University of Debrecen. The career day was organized jointly by the Institute of English and American Studies of the Faculty of Arts and the Debrecen BSC Round Table within the framework of the English Professional Week for Hungarian and foreign students currently studying here. The program was organized by the institute’s students with the aim of getting advice on career opportunities in Debrecen, as well as gaining useful information on practical topics such as job interviews and CV writing.
The event also created an opportunity for the participants to get to know the various companies of the Debrecen BSC Round Table through the introductory presentations.
“Many of our former students work at these companies, proving that as a humanities student with knowledge of a foreign language, many opportunities await employees starting their careers in business life as well” – said Balázs Venkovits in his greeting.
The director of the Institute of English and American Studies emphasized: the event is exemplary, as it reflects the success of the collaboration between students, instructors and external partners, proving at the same time that the courses of the faculty and the institute provide knowledge that is a reliable basis for future career building. The University of Debrecen stands out among domestic higher education institutions not only with its high-level education, but also with its extensive corporate relationships, this is supported by, among other things, the cooperation between the institution and the Debrecen BSC Round Table since 2018, within the framework of which eight different courses are currently available in six languages away from the students.
“The joint work with the Institute of English and American Studies started in 2019 with the Real-life Business business training, which has been operating since then, thanks to which 30-40 students can acquire special knowledge first-hand, with the involvement of company professionals” – explained Éva Kissné Nyéki, Debrecen BSC Roundtable project manager.
At the event, experts and managers from 4IG, BT, Diehl, DT-ITS, EPAM, Flowserve, NI and Transcosmos – all former students of UD – shared their experiences with those interested, hoping that this they can provide assistance in career building to future employees.
