The Society of Scottish and Hungarian Scientists has been founded on the initiative of prof. dr. Ábrahám Kovács, professor at the Reformed Theological University of Debrecen, and the co-chairman of the organization is also from the DRHE.
The Society of Scottish and Hungarian Scientists held its inaugural meeting at The Royal Scots Club in Edinburgh on October 29th, 2024. Members elected Prof. Sir Iain Torrance and Prof. Dr. Richard Hörcsik as presidents of the Society. The scientists discussed the possibility of the Society working together in professional, cultural and social science fields for the benefit of the two nations.
Prof. Dr. Ábrahám Kovács, who initiated the establishment of the Society and organized the event, and Consul General Dr. László Kálmán welcomed the festive assembly. Scientists participating in the gala dinner also took part in the wine exhibition of the Tokaj-Portius winery. They listened to the performances of Scottish bagpipe player Gary West and Hungarian bagpipe player Zétény Nagy, as well as singer Lili Szűcs.
