The Chinese iStudy and Vietnam CentrePoint have sent international students to the University of Debrecen for two decades. These international education agencies have connected thousands of foreign students with the university over the past few years. To celebrate this anniversary, events were held in Nanjing and Ho Chi Minh City where former Debrecen students shared their career paths.

“The University of Debrecen’s International Education Coordination Center (NOKK) began collaborating with international education agencies almost thirty years ago,” said Attila Jenei to hirek.unideb.hu. “We systematically sought partners in the Far East and Middle East who could help internationalize the university. For twenty years, the Chinese iStudy and Vietnam CentrePoint have been our key and stable partners in this process.”

The director of the University of Debrecen’s International Education Coordination Center emphasized that these international collaborations have significantly contributed to the expansion of the university’s English-language programs since the 2000s.

“Seventy percent of the University of Debrecen’s international students come to our institution through foreign agencies. We are pleased and proud that these relationships have not only survived crises, international conflicts, and the pandemic but have also generated further growth. At the anniversary events, we were able to confirm that our former students are succeeding all over the world. Through NOKK, the University of Debrecen has not only provided foreign students with the opportunity to continue their studies and receive a university education but has also guided these young people towards a successful career,” added Jenei Attila.

The University of Debrecen’s International Education Coordination Center cooperates with nearly three hundred international intermediaries and agents. Thanks to this extensive partner network, almost 2100 new international students started their studies in the UD’s English-language programs in the 2024/2025 academic year.
