“Mangalica” festival will be held on the main square of Debrecen. Besides the offer of pig farmers handicraft shows, music and dance will await interested ones between 8-11 April.
Last year, thousands of people wished to see the live pigs and the bacon, sausage and ham made of “mangalica” meat. This year, the organizers are expecting around 20 thousand visitors. Debrecen wants the “Mangalica Days” to become the most significant culinary festival in the region, as László Papp deputy mayor said at a conference held in connection with the event. Péter Tóth, president of the National Association of Mangalica Breeders added that “mangalica” breeding can become an important means of giving a boost to the agriculture in the region.
