Erasmus is one of the most successful and well-known program of the European Commission, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2012.
At the beginnings, in 1987, 3244 students from 11 countries decided to start off the unfamiliar. At the moment, the number of the countries has risen to 33; the number of the exchange students is almost three millions, more than four thousand institutions are taking part in the program across Europe.
Between 2007 and 2013 the European Union donated almost 3 billion Euros to support the Erasmus program.
According to those students who took part in the Erasmus program, the experience they gained helped them to find jobs much easier.
