IX. Cantemus International Choir Festival was organized from 15th to 21st of August in Nyíregyháza.
Fifteen choirs of nine nations were competing in Nyíregyháza, including Portugal, Wales, China, Turkey, the Netherlands, Israel, Estonia, the Philippines. A special difficulty of the competition was that the choirs had to compete in one category, irrespectively of age-groups and compositions of the choirs.
The girl choir of Ady Endre High School of Debrecen won two prizes: the Golden Diploma prize and the surcharge of the Best Hungarian Choir. Besides the competition, two successful concerts were given by the choir, led by Rita Kerekes chorus-master; one in the Kepes Institution of Eger and one in the Protestant Great Church of Gávavancsellő.
