Professionals from all over the world arrive to the V. Geoinformatics Conference and Exhibition, which is held between 29-31 May at the University of Debrecen.
Geographical information systems (GIS) are used in almost every area of life; including the field of literature research, medical science, and governmental bureaucracy.
However, the professionally developed programs with proper back support, which often cost several million forints, are beyond reach for many, thus they opt for open source software.
These popular programs and equipment will be discussed at the conference, which aim is to bring together Hungarian and foreign professionals in geoinformatics, and to provide a platform for theoretical professionals to meet practical users. Unlike in the previous years, the conference will last not two but three days, since OPEN GIS – a meeting for companies developing open-source software – will also be organized.
Similarly to previous years, there will be a lecture series in English as well, thus making the event even more international. 10-15% of the 160 participants are foreigners, coming from Austria, the Netherlands, Sweden, Cameroon and Nigeria.
The lectures and the exhibition at the Main building court can be visited without registration.
