Debrecen Zoo is happy to announce the arrival of two Blue-and-yellow Macaws.
For the first time of the history of Debrecen Zoo & Amusement Park visitors can enjoy the sight of Blue-and-yellow Macaw twins. An addition to the largest flock of Macaw species ever held at the Zoo. The birdies are yet to be sexed. During the past three months the parents nurtured the chicks and now they are champion flyers.
Macaws are very sensitive, playful and friendly birds that enjoy human interaction. Visitors can spot these magnificient chicks as they train with our keepers or as they accompany the cycling keepers on their shoulders.
One of the key highlights of the Autumn in the Zoo is the extended Animals in Action Experience. From this weekend visitors can enjoy the nearness of the Macaws at our main entrance starting from 1PM every weekend till the end of October.
We are so excited to announce that The Macaw Show, the next big thing is coming for the new season, Spring 2019. The Macaws, the Stars of the Show will amaze your senses with their enchanting intelligence, playfulness and talent.
These king-sized members of the parrot family are living in South America and due to ongoing habitat loss and extreme volume of illegal trade, both species are listed on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
