The 2020 MLS Soccer Championship was held on December 13 and the winning Columbus Crew SC team included Hungarian, Krisztián Németh.
The 2020 MLS Soccer Championship was held this past Sunday at the Columbus Crew SC stadium. The game ended in a 3-0 win for the Columbus Crew SC over the Seattle Sounders.
Hungarian striker Krisztián Németh was on the roster for the game, making him the first ever Hungarian to win a U.S. soccer championship. Németh, who is 31, has played for various teams throughout his career. In 2014, he signed with the MLS club Sporting Kansas City. In 2015, he won the MLS Goal of the Year Award when he shot the only goal of the game against the Portland Timbers.
After his time in America, he transferred to Al-Gharafa then came back to the U.S. for a stint and in February 2020 was on the Slovakian club team, FC DAC. However, in October of this year, Németh started playing in the MLS again with the Columbus Crew SC. He is said to have signed a half-year contract with the option for a year extension with the team.
Németh is best known in Hungary for his time on the U-20 national team that won the bronze medal at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2009.
