Over the weekend, we will reach five million vaccinated people, with that, we essentially beat the third wave. The operative board decided on Friday morning to lift most of the restrictions, Viktor Orbán said in a radio interview on Friday.
The operational board decided on these points:
- The curfew is lifted.
- The mandatory closing hours of stores will be abolished.
- Mandatory mask-wearing will be abolished.
- Sports can be done in public places.
- A wedding for 200 people can be held without restrictions.
- An outdoor event for 500 people can be permitted again.
- A music-dance event can only be attended with a security certificate.
It is not known exactly when the provisions will come into force.
The prime minister said that once the five million vaccinated were reached, the curfew would be lifted, as would restrictions on the opening hours of shops and restaurants and the abolition of mandatory mask wearing in public spaces.
Viktor Orbán announced that sports are free in public areas, with a 50-person private and family event, and weddings can be held without restriction for up to 200 people. In hotels and restaurants, the operator of the room is obliged to ensure that such events can be held in a separate room.
In the future, outdoor events can be organized, but a 500-person barrier will survive and you can still attend events indoors with a security card, the prime minister said, adding that a security certificate is still mandatory at music and dance events.
Even if five million people are vaccinated, there are still three million who are at risk, the prime minister said.
He added, however, that it should be noted that vaccination in neighboring countries is not yet as high as in Hungary and even mutant viruses are a threat.
