The numbers are rising sharply, the epidemic is raging – writes the Hungarian Chamber of Doctors in its publication “Air”.
By Wednesday, 178 people had died, the number of people requiring hospital care: 5852 (+41), including the number of people requiring a ventilator: 565 (+20), the number of actively infected people: 115383 (+8789) – the medical chamber lists the epidemic data.
They write that even when working with steam, the Emergency Departments drown patients, transforming newer and newer departments for Covid care, directing ophthalmologists, urologists, surgeons, and nurses to these departments.
Intensive care units, although they are opening more and more units again, are becoming saturated. And this is not surprising: we have seen a dramatic increase in the number of cases in the surrounding countries, but no substantive preventive action has been taken at home other than the well-launched but slowing vaccination campaign. And intensive care units cannot be rationally expanded beyond one point. In vain are there enough machines if the staff has been running low since the previous epidemic. They got sick and died, burned out, and quit. And without a sufficient number of professionals, there is no real intensive care
– warns the Hungarian Chamber of Doctors.
Tightening is proposed:
If Hungarian society does not want the number of victims to rise for Christmas, if it wants to show its appreciation for the heroes fighting for it, then
- raise labor wages substantially
- start meaningful treatment of health problems
- but most of all: let’s slow down the growth of the number of patients together and the influx of hospitals, otherwise, a lot of families will have a very sad Christmas!
For this
- make the mask mandatory in all enclosed public spaces (shopping malls, shops, cinemas, theaters, etc.)
- end mass events, not just professional medical congresses
- link access to non-vital places (nightclubs, restaurants, theaters, cinemas) to a content-protected security card (inclusion of an adequate number of vaccines within six months) or a recent negative PCR test
- support telecommuting, home-office
- and individual distance, hand washing.
Yes, we know vaccination is the most important thing in the long run. But we also know that protection for the vaccine comes weeks later, and the epidemic is now raging. Until then, the above protection devices will remain. Therefore, only by using these tools together will we have a chance to reduce the number of victims of the epidemic in the short and long term – read the announcement of the Hungarian Chamber of Doctors.
