Archaeologist László Szolnoki will give a lecture at the Déri Museum on Friday, March 25, at 5 pm in the series entitled Archaeological Heritage of Cívisváros. According to the expert, many archaeological excavations have been carried out in Debrecen in recent decades.

“Urban excavations are characterized by the fact that the constructions of the last centuries, but especially the last 200 years, the deep foundations of multi-story buildings, the cellars under the houses and the ditches of various utilities have severely destroyed and sometimes completely destroyed the memories of earlier times. These modern disturbances were best traversed by objects dug deep into the ground.

Such are the wells that have always been important in human settlements, as good quality and sufficient drinking water was needed at every age. Wells are stubborn things, despite the disturbance of modern man, they have been preserved for centuries, thousands of years, hiding beneath the city the memory of old times. ”

The lecture in March will cover the exploration of wells of different ages and structures in Debrecen over the last two decades and the latest results.
