A record number of Hungarian athletes, including five students at the University of Debrecen, will begin Wednesday’s 31st Winter University Games. The most prestigious event of international university sport will be held this year at Lake Placid, New York, between January 12-22.
More than 50 Hungarian teams will be launched for the university competition at the former Winter Olympics. After 2019, the Hungarian men’s hockey team, including three students at the University of Debrecen, is re-represented at the World University Games: two defenders of DEAC, László Molnár (Sports and Recreation Management) and Vedran Bogesic (Sports and Recreation Organization) DEAC U21 striker, Máté Kókai (vehicle engineering). The national team will enter the ice before the official opening on Wednesday.
