The ELKH Nuclear Research Institute (ATOMKI) opens its doors to students and teachers in Debrecen. During the open days, between April 17 and 21, the institute’s researchers await school groups with unusual scientific educational classes.
Participation in the educational classes organized on various topics is free, however, school groups must register in advance on the event’s website (atomki.hu), which is available between March 27 and April 13, the ELKH announced on Tuesday.
Among the programs, students can get to know the research going on at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, on a virtual visit. They can listen to a lecture on, among other things, the physics of archery, particle accelerators, a nuclear reactor created by nature, photoelectric phenomena, as well as the true color of flowers and 3D microsculpture.
As written, the program series of ATOMKI open days is the continuation of the successful, long-standing Physics Days in a renewed form, after the forced break caused by the pandemic.
With the new name of the program, the organizers are reacting to the increasingly characteristic blurring of the boundaries between traditional fields of science, and thus the topic of the unusual classes also encompasses several fields of science.
More information about the program can be found on the institution’s website (atomki.hu).
