What is the true measure of achievement? This was the central question at the recent Highlights Club event in Debrecen, where sport, art, folk traditions, and community work came together. The talks and reflections showed that success is much more than tangible results or awards – true value is created when it strengthens communities and builds human integrity.
Olympic bronze medalist swimmer Boglárka Kapás reminded the audience that beyond medals, real success lies in perseverance, dignity, and inner strength.
Composer Prof. Dr. Péter Zombola spoke with passion about his teaching vocation: “What motivates me is making positive changes in people’s lives.” His words highlighted how art and education can both create value and shape the future.
Representatives of the Debrecen Dog Shelter emphasized the power of volunteering, where every rescued animal is a true achievement and a shining example of community responsibility.
Ferenc Porkoláb, Master of Folk Art, pointed out that tradition is not meant to be locked in a display case, but is a living heritage that enriches everyday life and connects past and present.
The key message of the evening: achievement is not an end in itself but a force that builds community. Whether in sports, music, folk art, or volunteering, it shapes the future for all of us.
