The selection process for the leadership of Hungary’s National Asset Recovery and Asset Protection Office (NVVH) began on Monday, with three candidates shortlisted for the position of president writes 24.hu.
The Parliament’s Justice and Constitutional Affairs Committee held a closed-door hearing with applicants for the top leadership positions and decided who would be invited to personal interviews on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Committee chairman István Hantosi announced after the meeting that Miklós Ligeti, Anna Róza Unger and Dávid Jancsics had been selected as candidates for the presidency.
Three hearings will take place on Tuesday for the positions of president, deputy president responsible for public finances and deputy president responsible for investigations. Due to the number of applications received, the applications for the deputy president positions responsible for prosecution and appeals were declared unsuccessful.
Among the three presidential candidates, Anna Róza Unger is a political scientist and associate professor at Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE).
The operation of the National Asset Recovery and Asset Protection Office was previously explained by Miklós Ligeti, legal director of Transparency International Hungary, in an interview with 24.hu.
The new office is expected to play a key role in the recovery and protection of assets linked to public funds and in strengthening oversight of public finances.
